I’m building this site around one idea: using AI to actually improve life and work, not just talk about it.
That direction came out of something personal. For most of my life, I fought my weight. At my heaviest, I was pushing close to 300 pounds. I’ve had a rotator cuff repair, a gallbladder removal, and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis in the mix too. At one point I put together a two-year workout streak — showed up, did the work, stayed consistent — and was still sitting close to 30% body fat the whole time. It turned out the problem was more complicated than discipline alone — there was data about my own body I simply didn’t have yet. Once I actually had it, things started changing.
That experimenting is how a lot of this started. At some point I began using an AI project as a kind of personal coach — logging workouts, tracking macros, making sense of lab work and recovery data. It got weirdly indispensable. Enough that I decided to build something so other people could set up the same kind of thing for themselves. That became AI Coach Builder.
I’m not trying to be revolutionary. I’m building real things, out loud, including the parts that don’t work.
I haven’t made content in over fifteen years, and it shows — I’m relearning all of it right now: filming, editing, actual storytelling, WordPress, the AI tools I use to build with. None of it comes naturally yet. I’d rather be upfront about that than pretend I’ve got it figured out.
I also work full-time as a finance manager — stable, demanding, not going anywhere, and not really what this site is about. Outside of that and this, it’s a pretty normal life: my wife, our dogs, whatever project has my attention that week — and lately, making ridiculous AI songs with friends. Record a phone call about some dumb thing we did as kids, get ChatGPT to write lyrics and a style prompt, feed it into Suno, and somehow it comes out sounding like an actual rock song. No real purpose behind it. It’s just fun.
If there’s a philosophy behind any of this, it’s simple: don’t guess, seek the truth, build real things, share what actually works, admit what doesn’t, and get a little better one step at a time. Learn. Build. Become.
